The World OutGames, a fun 10-day sports and cultural festival, is coming to Miami Beach and will conveniently take place in areas all around the Beacon South Beach Hotel, making this beachfront property a perfect place to use as a home base for those participating in or attending the festivities. The Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for May 26, the Closing Ceremonies will be held on June 4, and plenty of good times will take place near our Miami Beach hotel in between.
This event is licensed by the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association and is open to all regardless of sexual orientation. The 2017 edition will be the fourth. The previous three took place in 2006 (Montreal), 2009 (Copenhagen, Denmark) and 2013 (Antwerp, Belgium). That initial event was the largest international sports event held in the French-speaking city since the 1976 Summer Olympics.
More than 100,000 people, including 15,000 participants, are expected to descend upon Miami Beach for the hundreds of events taking place during this week and a half. Twenty sports events will be on the docket, including basketball, road races, swimming, and tennis. The marathon is one competition that will be exceptionally close to our South Beach hotel as the race both starts and ends about a block away.
Culture events make up a significant portion of this festival’s focus too. The Colors of Miami Beach features the work of three men inspired by this beautiful community when they created their pieces of art. Some more serious exhibitions will take place too. Dance NOW! will present a touching performing arts exhibition about the impact of the HIV epidemic in South Florida in the 1980s. Other cultural events taking place at the World OutGames include musical performances, poetry readings, and film screenings.
The World OutGames Miami Global Conference on Human Rights, which is scheduled for May 26-28 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, will be held during this celebration. Activists, researchers, and scholars will gather for this conference and address LGBT-related issues in society just a mile from our Ocean Drive Hotel.
The Festival Village will be located at Lummus Park, which is just a third of a mile from our ocean front hotel. Performances by international artists will take place throughout the festivities at a pair of stages set up there while a variety of food and drink options will be made available as well. Dance parties and VIP events are scheduled for the area during the evenings of this 10-day stretch.

This will be one of the biggest celebrations to take place in Miami Beach in recent memory, and few accommodations are as conveniently situated for them than the Beacon Hotel, so why don’t you go ahead and make your reservations for the heart of South Beach so that you can be part of the festivities?
