Aids Walk Miami 2019

Aids Walk Miami 2019

April is set to be a momentous month and it’s ending with a bang with the 31st annual AIDS Walk Miami event. This event takes place on April 28th at Soundscape Park in Miami Beach. This impactful event helps support Care Resource and its Food For Life Network Food Bank. Care Resource helps support more than 17,000 individuals each year with essential testing for HIV and STIs. The walk also helps Care Resource supply prevention education, case management, housing and assistance for nutrition and food to those impacted by HIV and AIDS.

If it’s your first time heading to this event or you haven’t attended in a while, it’s a good idea to know what to look forward to when participating in the walk. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Opening Ceremonies

The opening ceremonies start bright and early at 8:30 am sharp following the 8:00 am registration and check-in. This part of the event will quickly go over the current goals achieved by Care Resource. You can also find out information about the route that you will take. You can also expect topics covering the safety check, including bringing water to stay hydrated and staying on the path that is free from vehicles. You can also pick up your shirt to commemorate the event and show your support as you walk.

2. The Route

The route you will take is about 3.1 miles long. You can expect to take about 45 minutes to one hour to complete this route. The course takes participants through Miami hotspots and attractions, including the Lincoln Road Mall, Lummus Park, Ocean Drive boardwalk and the Washington Avenue business district. The walk will start and end at Soundscape Park. It doesn’t matter if it’s rain or shine, either. You can expect to walk starting at 9am.

3. Post-Walk Celebration

Right after the walk, you can enjoy live performances, free beverages and complimentary massages at the post-walk celebration. This part of the event begins at 9:30am and offers a wide selection of delectable food to enjoy, including apples, bananas and other selections of fresh fruit. You’ll also learn about the total donations the event earned and get a chance to celebrate with honored groups who reached their donation goals.
