ING Marathon 2017
From casual runners to competitive racers and endurance athletes, runners of all athletic abilities will be converging upon Miami Beach for the ING Marathon. This marathon, which is the second largest in Florida, includes both a half and full marathon. It draws more than 25,000 participants from around the world. The marathon is such a popular event for runners due to its unique landscape and the fact that it’s a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. The 2017 Miami Marathon takes place on January 29, 2016, in Miami, Florida.
Sporting a tropical vibe, the flat course of the Miami Marathon winds its way around the city’s sophisticated scenery as it takes runners past views of Biscayne Bay, the Miami skyline and the Art Deco architecture of South Beach. Runners will race along Miami’s city streets and cross bridges such as the MacArthur Causeway, which connects the downtown area and South Beach. Catch a view of San Marino Island and Rivo Alto Island when crossing the Venetian Causeway.
The ING Marathon is USTAF-certified with a single loop course. Both half and full marathon runners start at American Airlines Arena, which is home to the Miami Heat. They follow the same path for 12.8 miles. At that point, the half marathon runners race toward the finish line at Bayfront Park. Full marathon runners continue on through downtown, Coconut Grove, and Key Biscayne before also finishing at Bayfront Park.
After the 2017 Miami Marathon, runners will receive medals and attend post-race celebrations. What could be more convenient than choosing a hotel right in the heart of all of the Miami Marathon festivities? Runners can rest and relax before and after the marathon at the Beacon Miami Beach boutique hotel.
