Miami Beach in June
In June, watermelons, citrus fruits and tomatoes are in season. And, Miami Beach in June, fun is in-season as well. In part, that’s because of major events like the ones described below.
Your Taste Buds Will Thank You
Tie a napkin around your neck. Grab your knife and fork, and get busy! For the 12th year in a row, Coral Gables restaurants will offer discounted meals during Restaurant Week. More than 40 eateries will take part in 2019, and the event will take place between June 3 and 23. Expect low prices and high cuisine.
For its part, the Redland Summer Fruit Festival features some of nature’s tastiest tropical delights. Appropriately, it’s at Homestead’s Fruit and Spice Park. Smoothies, wines, and fruits from local farms should keep your mouth and stomach happy. Rounding out the event are children’s pony rides and animals for little ones to pet. Check it out on June 22 or 23.
Song and Dance
From June 10 to 14, there’s the World Dance Summer Intensive. It’ll offer young people rigorous and rewarding dance classes. Distinguished teachers will cover a range of styles, including ballet, jazz, and Afro Haitian.
Between June 18 and 23, the Adrienne Arsht Center will present the 2013 musical “Come From Away.” It’s the gripping true story of a Newfoundland town that takes in thousands of global travelers. Those people were stranded in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
Dear Old Dad
On Father’s Day (June 16), you can take Dad on an unforgettable fishing trip. This Biscayne Bay cruise comes courtesy of Deering Estate, and it lasts three hours. Don’t worry if you don’t get many bites. The experts on board will still give you lots of information about area wildlife.
Do you and Pop like cars? What about cigars? How about cars and cigars together? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, head over to Barnacle Historic State Park on Father’s Day. The Barnacle Society will hold Cars and Cigars starting at 10 a.m. In addition to hand-rolled cigars and classic autos, there will be a crafts area for children.
